History of Yokohama Tyres and Yokohama Advan Sport V105 Tyres

Yokohama Rubber Company was founded and began in 1917 jointly with B.F. Goodrich and Yokohama Cable Manufacturing. This tyre manufacturing company is based in Tokyo, Japan. In 1923 the Hiranuma Plant was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake. Not until 1929 was the construction completed of the Yokohama Plant. Improved efficiency was on the basis of fewer employees but placing emphasis on best use of machines for productivity. In 1937 the trademark name was changed to Yokohama from Goodrich. In 1945 Allied air raids destroyed the Yokohama plant. In 1952 a plant was built in Kanagawa Prefecture which began producing large tyres, belts and vinyl products. A technology licensing agreement was signed with Nankang Rubber Tyre Corporation. In 1963, the company was named The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. In 1973 the company signed a manufacturing technology agreement with Hankook Tire Manufacturing Company, Ltd. In 1974 production of off the road tyres began at the Onomichi Plant. In 1981 B.F. Goodrich sold its majority shares to Japanese Companies. Throughout the Companies history they signed several other agreements and built many testing centers. In 2013 the company launched the advan sport v105 yokohama , this was known as their global flagship tyre.In 2014 the yokohama tyres advan sport v105 received certification for use on Porsche.
